Bonus Items
Introduction
This post will tell you how to get all bonus items in Kol and Galenholm. Most of these items will make this chapter easier later on, so, if you are not going for the speedrun challenge, I suggest taking the time to get some of these recipes and items.
Kol:The Bleak and Burning Badlands Bonus Items
1;World Map
Search the caves in the southern half of the island to find the World Map.The location of the cave is random.
2;Gold Ring
This accessory is extremely useful in the earlier sections of the chapter.Go through the barricade and look for the very tall cactus. The sign gives a clue to where it is:7N 33E.Go 7 blocks N and 33 blocks E and dig up the earth to find the chest with the ring inside.
3 and 4;Dragon Scale and Seed of Life
The pillar in the pool of lava next to the fortress at the S end of the island has a Green Dragon guarding a treasure chest.Kill the dragon and it will drop a Dragon Scale. The chest next to the dragon has a Seed of Life in it.
Kol:The Island of Lava
5;Portrait of a Lady
A random cave has a treasure chest with the item in it.
6;Chimaera Wing x 3
The earth tower has a chest at the top containing the treasure.
7 and 8; Wood and Seed of Life
In the monster mine, there are two fortresses in the dead ends. One is guarded by a single Knight Errant and has a chest with Wood x 5. The other one is guarded by three Knight Errant and has a chest with a Seed of Life.
9; Wood
Head into the monster mine again. There is a stone mountain behind the fortresses ( Not the earth ones, the stone ones ) . Climb this and head into the lava lake. There is a broken minecart track above the lava. Go to the treasure chest at the end of the track to find Wood x 5.
10 and 11; Wood and Medicinal Herb
From the teleportal, head S to the gate. Keep going to the guard towers. The guard towers are guarded by two Knight Aberrant. Kill them. The E tower has Wood x 5. The W tower has Medicinal Herb x 3.
12 and 13; Ring of Awakening and Strength Ring
S from the bonus items from the above, there is a gate across the lava.
Build a bridge to it, then continue W through another canyon to a fortress area with Knight Aberrant and Legerdeman roaming around. The N room has a treasure chest with a Strength Ring. The S room has a treasure chest that is actually a Cannibox drops a Ring of Awakening, making your explorations in Galenholm much easier.
14, 15, 16, and 17; Seed of Life, Steel Sabatons, Ruby of Protection, and Iron Ingots x 20
Head W of the above, then head N to a barricade with a Boss Troll inside ( This is one of the Boss Trolls you have to defeat in the challenge ) . Kill the troll, then go into the E treasure room to get the following, left to right: Seed of Life, Steel Sabatons, a Cannibox that drops a Ruby of Protection, and a chest with Iron Ingots x 20.
18; Roller Kol-ster blueprint
At the N end of the island, there is an incomplete minecart track. Repair it with Straight Track x 2, Curved Track x 1, and Sloped Track x 1. Once the job is done, the chest will open. Open it to get the Roller Kol-ster Blueprint.
Galenholm: The Island of Ice
19; Ring of Criticality
Head S from the teleportal to find a friendly Gigantes trying to destroy some Fortress Blocks. Destroy them for her with the Hela's Hammer, then feed her Pancakes to obtain her treasure: a Ring of Criticality.
20 and 21; Chimaera Wings and Featherfall Footwear
The tower near the frozen lake has a treasure chest with Chimaera Wings x 3. Climb to the roof of the tower to find a treasure chest with Featherfall Footwear, making the effort worthwhile.
22; Scandalous Swimsuit
Make a big hole in the bridge that leads to the monster castle, then drop down into the shallow water. Open the chest to get a Scandalous Swimsuit.
Galenholm: The Ruins
23; Seed of Life
SW after passing through the gate guarded by 3 Hunter Meches and Killing Machines, you be on the other side of the mountains. Further S, you will find a giant earth tower with a treasure chest at the top containing a Seed of Life.
24; Seed of Life
At the igloos, continue searching the them until you find a 2nd treasure chest containing a Seed of Life.
That's all the Bonus items I think, so hopefully some of these items helped you out during the story.
If you find any items I haven't listed here, please post it in the comments!
Challenges: 3; Defeat all the boss trolls and gigantes
There are two Boss Trolls and two Gigantes in chapter 3 of Dragon Quest Builders. This post will tell you how to find and defeat all 4 of these powerful giants. There is one located on each island.
The first Boss Troll is on your starting island. Pass the barricade and continue N and you will definitely see it well before it sees you. It is the giant green monster you likely saw when you were exploring Kol. Place some Magic Cannons and shoot it, and bash it with the Bashmobile. I recommend bringing a party, with top-grade equipment and items. Once defeated, the monster drops Vile Visage x 2.
This Boss Troll is the hardest to find, but the easiest to defeat. It is located on the Island of Lava. Head S through the gates from the teleportal, then cross the lava to a third gate. Head W through the other gate then head N. You will see the Boss Troll behind a gate. Bring a party, then place a Magic Cannon, then blast the gate, then blast the monster, as the troll cannot pass through the small gap that you made. Let your escort melee the troll while you calmly shoot blast after blast of magic cannon fire at the monster. Easy, right? The Boss Troll drops Evil Idol x 2. Now you may waltz into the E treasure room and gather some excellent loot.
The first Gigante is found beyond the Red Teleportal. From the Teleportal, head NW until you find a snowman-like structure. Head N. You will spot the mighty blue giant well before it sees you. Bring as many companions as possible, and blast the monster with Magic Cannons. Also bash the the giant with the Bashmobile. It drops Draconic Column x 2.
The final Gigante and final boss monster is found beyond the Green Teleportal. Head S over the mountain and to the ice field with the igloos. The final boss monster is in the middle of the ice field. You can't miss it.
Blast the monster with Magic Cannons as always, and, as usual, bring a party. Bash the monster with the Bashmobile as always. The Gigante drops a single Dragonlord's Standard. Now you can go save, and go through the portal to complete another challenge.

Challenge 5; Find out the recipe for the Lyre of Slime Immemorial
This challenge guide will show you how to get the recipe for the Lyre of Slime Immemorial. This is going to take some time to complete.
First make 15 Blue Blocks ( To get them, keep progressing in the story until you get it after completing a quest ) , then head through the Red Teleportal. Return to where you fought the Gigante, then look at the E mountains. You should see a cave. This cave has lights in it so it should stand out. Head inside and there will be a slime-shaped hole in the floor and an unbreakable Evil Idol guardind the entrance here.
Place the Blue Blocks to fill the slime-shaped hole and the Evil Idol will disappear. Head through and there will be a maze of tunnels everywhere. This is the hardest part. Follow the Blue Temple Tiles around until you find a room with the recipe for the Lyre of Slime Immemorial. Finding the room is harder then it looks. It took me a while to find it, maybe 30 minutes. Once you get there, head up the stairs and you will fall into a spot in the tunnels. Head back out and you've completed the challenge.
The Lyre of Slime Immemorial is made with Silver x 5. It changes the in-game music to 8-bit music. The music sounds great with it activated. To activate it, make it and place it on the ground, ( It doesn't have to be in a room ) then press X. However, it gives 500 points so you may want to place it in your base and inside a room if you want to level up your base.

Challenge 4; Build the Spectacular Spa
The Spectacular Spa is likely the hardest building to build in Dragon Quest Builders. This guide will tell you how to build it, each and everything on the list.
Finding the Spectacular Spa Blueprint
The Spectacular Spa isn't a room you can just build. You need the blueprint for it. It is found in a cave through the Green Teleportal. The exact cave is randomized for every playthrough, so you will just have to keep searching. However, it will always be through the Green Teleportal, and usually it will be VERY hard to spot, so make sure you look in every corner in every cave. Eventually, you'll find it.
Building the Spectacular Spa
After retrieving the blueprint, you must build it. First you need to place the blueprint. It MUST be one block below ground level or the Challenge will not consider the Spectacular Spa complete. If you have room, it's possible to place the Spectacular Spa and build and have your other baths there too. However, due to the complexity of the spa, most players prefer to destroy the regular baths and place and build the Spectacular Spa over the normal one. Also remember, if you are going for the "Build your Base to Level 5" challenge, the Spectacular Spa is worth 4325 points, so you may wish to place the blueprint inside of your base.
Once you've placed it, now finally it's time to get building! If you scroll through what you need to build the Spectacular Spa, you'll notice that there are a LOT of items on the list. And I put the capitals there for a reason. Here I will go through the items in the list, one by one.

- Earth x 1 You only need 1, so just pluck one from the ground.
- Chalk x 42 Through the Red Teleportal, the cliff walls are made of Chalk
- Snow x 7 Through the Red Teleportal again, the ground is made of Snow
- Brick Wall x 50 You need Coal x 1 and Clay x 5 for 10 Brick Wall, so in all, you need Coal x 5 and Clay x 25
- Hot Water Crystal x 1 This is the orange block in the baths at the start of the chapter
- Medicinal Shrub x 3 The actual plant is what's needed and can be shoveled up through the Red Teleportal. There is plenty of these there. They can also be found through the Green Teleportal.
- Ivy x 6 In the hills to the E of your base there should be plenty of Ivy.
- Freezia x 2 There is plenty through the Red Teleportal. The actual plant is needed, so you need to use a shovel to gather them.
- Cedar Tree x 1 There are stumps through the Blue Teleportal. You need to plant the seedling and wait two days to make it grow, as you need the tree, not the seedling.
- Barrel x 1 You need Broken Branches x 3 and Cord x 1 to make it. Cord is made out of Ivy, and the Broken Branches are sticking out of the ground in your starting island.
- Pot x 1 There is Earth x 3 and Orange Oil x 1 needed to make one, and both materials can be found on your starting island.
- Washtub x 3 Broken Branches x 2 and Cord x 1 is needed, and I have already showed you how to get these.
- Stone Steps x 2 Stone x 3 is needed to craft this, and there is plenty of Stone beyond the barricade you broke through at the start of the chapter.
- Salon Door x 1 You need Broken Branch x 1 and Wood x 1. The Broken Branch I have already told you about and Wood can be harvested over and over again like I said in the walkthrough.
- Sconce x 2 You need Copper Ingot x 1 and Torch x 1 each. The Copper Ingot is made out of Copper, and that is found in the hills beyond the barricade S of your base. The Broken Branch and Orange Oil to make the Torch I have already told you, and at this point in the chapter is common knowledge.
- Brazier x 1 You need Stone x 3 and Coal x 1. I have already told you where the Stone is, and the Coal is where you found the Copper in the above.
- Towel Rail x 4 This time, you need Broken Branch x 1 and Fur x 1. The Fur is from the Hammerhoods and Brownies through the Blue Teleportal. The former is from the area around your base.
- Ornamental Swords x 2 You need Iron Ingot x 2 and Copper Ingot x 1. The latter is already discussed, and the Iron is found in the monster mine through the Blue Teleportal.
- Fierce Fountain x 1 Leave this for now.
- Hela's Hammer Sign x 1 You need Armourer's Sign x 1 and Magic Ingot x 1. Both of these are pretty simple, but for the Magic Ingot, you need Mythril and Power Crystals, and the Armourer's sign is very simple.
- Window x 1 You need Wood and Glass. The Wood is already explained, and the glass is made out of Sand.
- Beer Barrel x 1 You need Wood x 3 and Cord x 2, both which is already explained.
- Tea Service x 1 Leave this for now.
Finishing Touches
You should have everything ready except the Fierce Fountain and the Tea Service. These 2 items are probably the hardest aspect of the Spectacular Spa. I will explain how to get them below. If the Cedar Tree isn't finished yet, sleep until it is. Now it's time to finish off the Spectacular Spa!
Fierce Fountain
To get the recipe for the Fierce Fountain, head through the Blue Teleportal and go to the NE corner of the island. Talk to the woman, then plug the hole the troll is peeking through with a block and talk to the woman again. She'll give you the recipe for the Fierce Fountain.
To create the Fierce Fountain, you need Wood x 5, Lava x 3, Magic Ingot x 1, and Thermobattery x 1.
It's nothing to complicated by the time you're trying to build the Spectacular Spa, however, so make it and place it.
Tea Service
To make the Tea Service, you need Crockery and a Hearty Cream Cake. The Crockery is simple, but the Hearty Cream Cake is a bit more complicated. To create the cake, you need Wheat x 2, Sugar Cane x 1, Dracky Butter x 1, and Heartfruit x 1.
Wheat is found on top of the hills on the S end of the island with your base. The Sugar Cane and Heartfruit are found through the Green Teleportal, in the water area. The Dracky Butter is dropped by the Drackyamas near the frozen lake through the Red Teleportal. There is more Wheat on top of the hills on the monster mine through the Blue Teleportal, if you need it.
Finally, make the Hearty Cream Cake, then make a Tea Service. Place the Tea Service in the Spectacular Spa to finally complete the challenge.
Final Words
Your reward for completing the Spa is completion of the challenge, the recipe for Hot Water Crystals in Terra Incognita, allowing you to create baths.
Phew, that was a long challenge, wasn't it? I hope this challenge guide helped you to complete the Spectacular Spa!
